An American woman did her own house swap with a woman in the U.K. and she found her own hunky Englishman, just like in “The Holiday.” Camille Wyand flew to London earlier this month after seeing an ad on Instagram to trade homes with travel writer Lizzie Frainier, who came to stay in Wyand’s New York City apartment. And she also found romance, like the characters do in the rom-com.
The home swap was organized and paid for by HomeExchange and the dating service Thursday, and as part of the deal, Wyand was set up with a dating profile. The 25-year-old matched with Paddy James and after exchanging messages, they met for dinner and hit it off. It turns out, they both work in consulting and they shared experiences about that and had fun getting to know each other. “The conversation flowed so easily,” she says, “and it went by way too fast.”
The couple even paid tribute to “The Holiday” by meeting at the White Horse, the pub in Surrey where Jude Law and Cameron Diaz go in the movie. Wyand even thinks her British date looks like Law and that “overall he was really sweet and kind like the character” in the film. James says their dates “felt very natural” and she agrees, adding that she “wasn’t expecting to hit it off so well with him.” She’s since returned to Manhattan, so they’re now more than 3-thousand miles apart, but their love story isn’t over yet as they’re already planning to see each other again.
