The CDC is issuing updated COVID guidelines that put less of an emphasis on tough measures to fight the virus. A biggie on the list? No quarantining after exposure to COVID. That is, unless they are in a high-risk congregate setting, such as a jail or homeless shelter.

The updated guidance also says students can remain in class if they’re exposed to COVID, moving away from remote learning. Students and staff exposed should now wear a mask for ten days, and be tested on day five. Children under two – no more masking.

As for people who are infected with Covid-19, they should end isolation on the sixth day or later if they never had symptoms or if they are fever-free for 24 hours and other symptoms have improved. The agency makes the point of saying that the focus is now on “individual choice.”
