Want to find a partner who laughs at the same things you do?
There’s an app for that. Schmooze is a meme-based dating app designed to match users with people who appreciate the same type of humor.
Here’s how it works:
- When setting up a profile, users first have to choose what their “#MemeVibe” is by choosing from categories including dark humor, puns, wholesome, relatable, NSFW, gaming, anime and more.
- Then they add profile photos, a bio, their four favorite music artists, their TV show binge list and memes they like.
- After that, users are shown a selection of memes curated by artificial intelligence and they can swipe right to like, left to dislike or up to love them.
- Match suggestions pop up based on the types of humor both users enjoy or reject.
- Users can then select to “Snooze” or “Schmooze” their match suggestions.
The dating app also just launched a new feature called “Schmooze Flirts,” which handpicks memes that a match would be likely to laugh at and it encourages a user to send the meme to their match to kick start a conversation. The user then has 48 hours to message the possible match or the chat will automatically disappear. Schmooze doesn’t currently allow users to upload their own memes because of quality and appropriateness control concerns, but they’re planning to create a user-content platform for that in the next few months.
