Some of us box up our Christmas trees and send ’em back to storage for another year. Others, those live Christmas tree people, have to get creative to get rid of ’em.

Henry Doorly Zoo and Wildlife Safari Park are great local options. Some take it a step further and just eat their trees themselves.

“You can eat pretty much the whole thing,” says Julia Georgallis, the author of “How To Eat Your Christmas Tree.”

She says the needles from the tree can be used “as you would use rosemary or bay leaves, for flavor,” and recommends putting sections of the tree itself in the oven until they’re charred and using the pine ash for flavor. Georgallis hosts a supper club in east London with menu items made from Christmas trees.

I’ve heard of pine needle tea, but roasting the wood to slice like a steak? That’s a new one.
