Here’s the nomination that scored Megan her Top Teacher award: “Mrs. Devoe knew that my daughter needed some extra TLC when she was in 2nd grade. She took her under her wing choosing to take her strong personality and need to be in control of a situation personality and made it a strength by having her help a couple of other students and serve is helper rolls. Mrs. Devoe navigated my daughter through the trial and tribulations of elementary school friendships and guided her how to be herself in a friendship while also looking who she chooses to be close to. Mrs. Devoe held firm boundaries, which allowed my daughter to know what was expected of her. For a kid who hates surprises, this was very important. She pushed her academically and encouraged her to keep trying.
Even though my daughter is now in 3rd grade, Mrs. Devoe continues to be a source of guidance and a shoulder to laugh and cry on. She looks out for my daughter and has her best interest at heart. I hear this same sentiment echoed by so many parents that have been lucky to have Mrs. Devoe as a teacher.
