Sweet 98.5

When thousands of bike riders on RAGBRAI peddle through northeast Iowa next week, they just might quench their thirst with…corn beer?

Yep. Corn beer.

A northeast Iowa farmer’s crops, and especially his cover crops, are some of the ingredients. Fayette County farmer Loran Steinlage grows cover crops as a way to deter soil erosion and improve water quality. The grains are then malted and used by a Decorah beer maker.

The latest version is described as a premium, full-bodied Iowa corn lager.
Each can contains about 40-percent corn.
