We know frostbite. But what about frostnip? The experts at Mayo Clinic break it down, saying “Frostnip is mild frostbite that irritates the skin, causing a change in skin color and a cold feeling followed by numbness.”

Prince Harry got real personal while visiting Stephen Colbert, revealing he suffered frostnip of his “todger.” He experienced the injury after taking part in a charity trek to the Arctic for the Walking with the Wounded charity group.

He said that he “turned up thinking, how bad can this be? It’s only the North Pole, it’s only minus 35 degrees.” ONLY MINUS 35 DEGREES.

(It is 27 degrees in Omaha right now and I’m sitting in my office wrapped in a blanket.)

Harry said it wasn’t until weeks later that he realized something was wrong with his…”Little Prince.” There was “nothing visible, nothing obvious, it was a slow deteriorating situation,” he said.

Thankfully, frostnip doesn’t cause permanent tissue damage.
But still, yikes.
