A burnout coach is suggesting people have a part to play in their workplace stress. Elissa Lynn says she learned this by experience. Lynn says she used others calling her “dependable” as motivation and she felt she always needed to be “on.” Work was her top priority, even after a serious car crash.
Lynn says signs of burnout include chronic migraines, shoulder tension, lack of sleep, zoning out, and doom scrolling on social media. Lynn now uses her experience to help others break out of their burnout.
She recommends:
- Rediscovering your identity away from your job
- Admitting your part in the problem
- Learning what behaviors need to change and set boundaries around them
- Communicating your boundaries
- Seeking support
